When the Body Disappears

An installation consisting of ceramics, textile works, drawings and video, ‘When the Body Disappears’ was a pocket dimension and process considering eternity, immortality and the benefits/inevitability of dying. Considering an eternal life of repetition, the ‘neurotic’ process of WtBD is concerned with mapping the processes of living - physical, emotional, bodily, global, cosmic, …

All the works were made using a central logic - a logic of 3’s, grids, pictograms, and the conflict between the precision of the mathematical and the personhood of the handmade. These rules were applied across various materials and at every stage and, in theory, could continue the process forever and ever. The logic became its own sort of character, pictured in the video protected by the shell.

When the Body Disappears has been shown in FULL:FILLED, the ArtEZ Fine Arts Finals show (2023), and at Backstage Academy KunstRAI (2024)
